If you think having loyal customers for your brand is enough, then you need to think again.
You need to shift your focus on turning these loyal customers into free brand ambassadors who are thrilled and willing to market and publicize your business, services, or products.
A great concept, right? Well, it may sound easy but anyone with a business knows how difficult it is to get one sale, and to have your customers work for free? That sounds unreal.
But, here’s the thing, it is possible! You read that right.
Your customers as brand ambassadors can do a lot of work for you, they can ‘advertise’ the special events and speakers you have lined up. They’ll be your walking, talking marketing campaign.
These people will encourage all their family and friends to buy your products.
But, the question is, how do you turn a customer into a brand ambassador?
Here’s the foundation for creating brand ambassadors:
1. Start with a quality product or service
This one goes without saying, if your product doesn’t live up to quality standards might as well not have it.
Perfect your product, take as much time as needed and then dive in. There will still be room for correction, but you need to launch at the best of your capabilities. This way your customers will have something to talk about.
2. Make yourself shareable
Social Media is everything! Practically everyone has access to internet and if your content cannot can be shared easily then you’ve failed the very first step of marketing.
Everybody likes it when things are accessible and sharable with a click of a button. The easier “you” are to share, the more likely they are to do it.
Once your website is all set up with the right tools launch it. A study has shown that customers can only handle about one and one-half seconds of bother or frustration, and the “sharing” will be non-existent.
3. Woo the customer, (and don’t stop)
If you spend a lot of time and effort to market your product but then stop once you get paying customers, then you’re doing it all wrong.
You need to keep them impressed always. Keep them on the hook by every now and then offering a discount on their next product or service, and most importantly genuinely ask for feedback and improve on the basis of it to keep your customers interest.
4. Consider an incentive program
Don’t we all love a little treat from companies every now and then, even when we know it is an obvious tactic?
This is a plan that never fails, people love offers wherein they can mutually benefit from the end transaction. For example, Google pay offers Rs. 51 as referrals for inviting your friends and family. A smart way to have your consumers become your brand ambassadors.
5. Focus on customer service
This should always be your priority, you can have the best marketing strategy in the world or the best product, but if your customer service isn’t great it will never be successful.
Train your employees to offer the best customer service, and keep it fun for you employees. Happy employees lead to happy customers.
There is however no guaranteed way to turn a customer into a brand ambassador but following the best practices of this transition will only work in your favour. How would you like to be treated by a brand?
